According to Russo the Hurricanes were also in on Zucker, but it does sound like they preferred Calgary's offer.

Or maybe Fenton was just hesitant to deal with the Canes again after what happened last time.

Canes tried to trade Lindholm for Zucker before the draft last year and the Wild signed him instead.

They don't seem to want to give him up for anything.

i thought Tre didn't want to trade from his roster? Unless Frolik was being a distraction with his agents comments. I would've liked having Zucker but i do like Frolik's 2-way play for the playoffs.

According to ESPN there are no Slovakians on the Flames. No Slovenians either.
Calgary's roster does include 2 Czechs (Frolik and Rittich)
Flames are more likely to be billeting the Swedish team as Calgary has 6 already.

Well, there are a few, basically the last 2 drafts we've been raiding Slovakia in the later rounds...

Martin Pospisil - Slovakia
Milos Roman - Slovakia
Adam Ruzicka - Slovakia

sure but is he forgetting that the core of our team was built through the draft? Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Backlund, Janko, Brodie, we acquired guys like Lindholm and Hannifin using our draft picks (Ferland and Fox), Anderssonn, Kylington, Valimaki, Giordano was an undrafted find.

It was Dreger on TSN that talked about apparently BT was white hot as he said, because usually the league has leniency on the submissions for trades because of the backlog. I bet under the same circumstances for any other team things would be different.

Agree, our drafting has be good...really good. Being that it takes a few years to evaluate a draft, looking at 2010-2015, Calgary has done very good IMO. They drafted 12 NHLers, 8 of which after the first round. Notable later round picks, Gaudreau (a hart candidate) in the 4th round, Ferland in the 5th round, and Andersson, Kylington in the 2nd. Add those players to the top 10 picks of Monahan, Bennett and Tkachuk, and I think Calgary scouting has done a way above average job. This team isn't first in the west because of BT's astute UFA signings, that's for sure.
